Amber is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow focused on examining environmental justice in urban forest management. Amber completed their PhD at Toronto Metropolitan University in Environmental Applied Science and Management where they explored how environmental justice goals are prioritized and neglected in US urban forest planning and practice, as well as the socio-political and institutional conditions that influence community-based urban forest stewardship. Prior to joining UBC, Amber worked for over a decade at the Urban Forest Research and Ecological Disturbance Group at Toronto Metropolitan University where they led and supported several interdisciplinary research projects on environmental justice, urban forest function and vulnerability, and nature-based solutions. Outside of academia, you can find Amber playing basketball, cycling around the city, exploring the outdoors, or dancing to techno with friends.
