Arantxa is a Mexican biologist born and raised in the Ajusco Mountains in southern Mexico City. Her passion for protecting Mexico’s cultural and natural heritage has led her to work across the country from north to south. She is inspired by how communities come together to care for nature. She is especially interested in the connections between people, places, and stewardship. Her current research examines the strategies that environmental stewardship groups in tourist cities have developed to protect access to blue and green spaces. Outside of her research, she enjoys spending time in the water, hanging out with her loved ones, and playing Legos with her favorite teammate—her nephew.
