Lucas is a MSc student working at the intersection of urban greening, community engagement, and environmental justice. His research in the Urban Natures Lab explores how a growing understanding of underrepresented stewardship practices of urban green spaces can lead to more equitable neighborhood outcomes, with a focus on recognition justice. Before joining UBC, Lucas spent five years in Philadelphia’s nonprofit sector supporting community-led grantmaking for grassroots community organizing. He holds an undergraduate in History from Haverford College. When not conducting research, Lucas can be found cooking vegetarian, organizing men around issues of masculinity, playing ultimate frisbee, and tackling long-distance hiking trails.
